Huaihua, also called Hecheng (Town of Cranes) is a village with multiple ethnic groups accounting for 40% of its population. For a long period of time, over 50 ethnic groups including the Dong, Miao, Yao and Tujia ethnic groups live and thrive in Huaihua. Today, visitors can still experience the characteristic folk-custom and culture through the singing festival, Lusheng dance, gamecock, brocade and wax printing in Tongdao Yutou Dong Minority Village and China Culture Town of the Dong Ethnic Group.

Huaihua has a long history, excellent ecological environment and numerous natural and cultural landscapes including the Danxia landform in Wanfo Mountain, Furong Guest House in Qianyang Ancient Town and Disun Miao Ethnic Village.
