Torch Festival

Torch festival has profound folk-custom and cultural connotations and is called the “Oriental Carnival”. During the festival, people of all ages and both sexes get together to worship their ancestors. By means of worshiping the torches, lighting up torches, playing torches and jumping across torches, Bai people wish for good harvests and thriving domestic animals.

Time: Every evening of June 25 of the lunar calendar.

Main Characteristic Activities

Highlights: Torch mounting, ancestor worshipping, horse racing, liter bucket battle, torch splashing, and torch dancing.
