The Wulingyuan Scenic Area is located in Wulingyuan District of Zhangjiajie City, Hunan, and is comprised of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve, the Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve and Yangjiajie Scenic Area. Zhangjiajie National Forest Park includes Huangshizhai, Jinbianxi, Yuanjiajie, Yangjiajie Scenic Area, Daguantai, the Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve, the Ten-mile Gallery and other scenic areas, and is listed as a Global Geopark and known as the "first national forest park in China". It was also used during the filming of Avatar as the backdrop for the Hallelujah Mountain. Visitors can have fun in the canyon waters of Jinbian Brook, witness the pillar-like karst formations in Yuanjiajie, see the rock walls in Yangjiajie Scenic Area and experience the stone forests in the Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve.

  • Transportation
    Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station-Wulingyuan: Around 35 kilometers (now the Yuyuan Tunnel has been opened and it is about 25 kilometers). Two special tourist lines, A and B, run from the city to the core of the scenic area, cost 12 RMB, set off every 5 minutes and take around 40 minutes.
